如果在澳洲开车发生违章，一般都会以信件的方式收到罚单，有的时候如果是被警察拦停也有可能在现场直接给罚单。
不管是以信件还是现场收到的罚单，上面都会清楚的写明你的罚单号和详细的违章内容。如果违章事实存在，但只是轻微的超速，以及首次，那么有很大的机会是可以申请豁免掉而改成“警告Warning”的。
一般以信件形式收到的超速罚单，英文称Infringement Notice，如图下（摄像头拍摄到的超速）：
（注：澳洲曾今出现过“假罚单”的诈骗，如果对自己收到的罚单存在疑问，可以在网上搜出Fines Victoria的官方联系方式，打电话过去进行确认）
罚单内容包括
超速日期、时间及发生地点丨OFFENCE DATE, TIME AND LOCATION
允许的速度丨PERMITTED SPEED
测到的实际速度丨DETECTED SPEED
驾照罚分丨DEMERIT POINTS
罚款金额丨INFRINGEMENT PENALTY

需要缴纳罚款的截止日期丨DUE DATE （逾期未加罚款，金额会随之增加）
在澳大利亚州维多利亚州，管理各种罚款的政府部门叫“Fines Victoria”，而不是警察部门
（注：澳洲警察拥有执法权和处罚权，所有的罚款都是整个州政府管理，很多谣言说的“指标”“奖金”是无稽之谈）

针对大部分罚单的申诉
针对大部门的交通违章罚单，可以通过下面的方式“申诉”。

有哪些情况可以申诉的：
罚款的决定和相关的法律是相悖的；
你确实违章了，但是有特殊原因
身份搞错了
你不知道整个罚单的存在，并且这个罚单不是当面给你的
你有特殊情况，这个可能是
- 智力残疾；
- 精神疾病；
- 对毒品或酒精严重上瘾；
- 无家可归；
- 家庭暴力，等。
对于超速25公里以上（或者限速110驾驶超过130km/h），酒后驾驶，吸毒驾驶这类是不在申诉范围内的。
而上述的原因有可能都需要你提供相关的证据。
Fines Victoria在收到你的申诉申请后90天内出结果，一旦做出决定，他们会以邮件方式通知，而可能的结果包括：
罚单被撤回，没有进一步针对你处罚；
罚单被撤回，会给你一个“官方警告”
请将此事提交给地方法院（需要上庭）
免除或更改与罚款相关的任何费用；
免除或更改罚款所施加的任何额外处罚措施（比如扣分等）
批准可以分期付罚单
维持原来的罚单
对于超速罚单的申诉
而对于超速罚单，如果超速低于10km/h的，会有另外的方式“内部申诉”，不过这个内部申诉一定要在缴纳罚单的截止日期之前申请。

符合哪些条件可以申诉：
超速低于10km/h的；
在过去的2年，没有收到任何交通罚单或者官方警告；
比较好的驾驶历史记录。
这个申诉必须通过书写的方式申请，申诉信邮寄到下面的地址：

My name is X. As a Chinese tourist, I had a tour in Melbourne on Feb 23, 2015. Recently I received an infringement notice from the Road Safety Camera Enforcement Agency: Victoria Police. I am writing this letter to apply for the official warning instead of penalty due.
First of all, I do not deny that I committed the offence.Because it was my first time driving a car in Australia, throughout the whole driving I tried to make the speed control at 80 km / h on the road carefully. At the time of the offence, I was driving in a single-lane road and the car was automatic. Because being fixed in one position a few long time, there were some leg numbness.
