今天6月新SAT出分了，大家考得如何？需要十月再战吗？希望你们都考出好成绩，迎接2017年大学本科申请。即将进入八月，而新一轮的申请也将拉开序幕。
尽管今年CAAS系统上线，但申请美国大学本科，我们大多数人还是通过美国大学通用申请系统Common Application（以下简称CA系统）提交材料。而在今年8月1日，即将开放的CA系统又进行了一次新的改革，一起来看看变化都有哪些。
改革1：文书题目
CA系统官网已经公布了2016-2017学年美国大学本科申请作文的题目，题目已经做了更新，与过往不同的有两道，题目如下：
The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
跟改革之前的题目相比，这个题目主要是增加的第一句，强调了“lessons we take from failure” ，即你从失败中获得了怎样的教训，这些教训是如何帮助你成功的。据统计，以往超过80万申请人中有17%的申请人选择这一题目。
Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
这是个全新的题目。据统计，10%的申请人选择全新题目。
除了以上2个题目，其余的3个题目没有修改，题目如下：
Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
据CA系统统计，2015-2016年，47%的学生选择这个题目进行写作。
Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again？
据统计，选这道题的人非常少，只有4%。
Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.
据统计，有22%的申请人选择此题目。
另外，关于作文提交部分，系统中会以清单的形式直观地告诉申请者哪些学校需要提交或哪些学校不需要提交。对于某些大学的额外写作要求，也会出现在申请表的各个位置。如此一来，系统灵活性加大，但申请难度也进一步增加了。
改革2：账号信息可长期保留
以往CA系统每年8月1日重新开放的时候，已经注册过的学生信息会被清除，学生需要重新注册。而今年与往年不同的是，在8月1日之前申请2017年入学的同学可以一直保留自己的CA帐号，申请期间的个人添加信息一直会保存，除非自己删除。这样子不了解申请流程的同学，可以有足够的时间去了解，并按照要求准备材料和活动。（请注意7月21日-8月1日期间系统维护，不能使用。）
改革3：删除部分犯罪历史问题
关于是否应该询问申请人的犯罪历史的问题，美国教育部门及各高校已经讨论很久，新的系统中仍然会问学生是否犯有轻罪或重大罪行，但会删除部分细节问题。
改革4：改变性别认定方式
性别认定一栏将不再只有男性和女性两个选择，新的系统将询问学生的出生性别，同时新增空白栏允许学生表达自己的意愿，如是否为变性人。
改革5：系统中新增37所美国大学
目前CA系统中已包含590所美国大学，除了加州大学系统、得州大学、麻省理工学院、罗格斯大学等学校，CA系统涵盖了美国大部分学校。2017秋季学期，CA系统将新增37所大学，包括贝勒大学、乔治梅森大学、印第安纳大学伯明顿分校及威斯康辛麦迪逊大学等。
另外，部分大学也公布了本学年度的申请文书题目，这里就大家关心的几所名校的相关信息与补充Essay题目进行了整理。

3. What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time?
4. Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.
5. Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?
6. Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.
7. What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?
8. What is the one thing that you think sets you apart from other candidates applying to the University of California?
1. If you are applying to the Pratt School of Engineering as either a first-year or transfer applicant, please discuss why you want to study engineering and why you would like to study at Duke. (150 words maximum)
2. If you are applying to the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences as either a first-year or transfer applicant, please discuss why you consider Duke a good match for you. Is there something particular about Duke that attracts you? (150 words maximum)
