PG Shows Preview // Postgraduate Diploma Photography Portfolio Development Final Show
Thursday (14 Nov) marks the start of London College of Communication’s postgraduate show season, with four fabulous shows in the lead up to Christmas, celebrating the best in documentary film, photography, photojournalism, sound, and design.
Here we preview work from LCC’s Postgraduate Diploma Photography Portfolio Development course which will be on show from 14 – 21 November, (private view Thursday 14 Nov, 6-9pm).
The exhibition, entitled 13/13, brings together the work of thirteen international photographers, showcasing a diversity of cultural backgrounds reflected in a mix of conceptual and documentary imagery.
From student Sara Bayoumi, trapped in her home in Cairo during the riots and having to produce her project within her home – the outcome a series of irreverent portraits questioning perceptions of Muslim identity.
To Japanese student Irina Ueda who creates beautiful but fragile images from her nuclear landscape series featuring Chernobyl, Sellafield and Dungeness.
While Manuela Henao Restrepo creates haunting images from the environment of those living on benefits.
In stark contrast, the oiled bodies of Drew Shearwood’s body builders pose questions surrounding erotic and homoerotic imagery.

London College of Communication Postgraduate Shows 2013 feature work by Over 300 students in documentary film, photography, photojournalism, sound, and design disciplines including graphics, typography, visual communication and service design.
