Dr. Rebecca Nesbit from the University of Georgia’sDepartment of Public Administration and Policy will discuss the importantcontributions made by volunteers in all sectors of society. In the UnitedStates, 62.8 million volunteers account for 7.9 billion hours and US $184billion dollars of service. The fields of education, health andsocial services benefit from this rich pool of resources. In her lecture,Dr. Nesbit will answer questions about volunteerism in America. What do volunteersdo? Why do some people spend their free time in service to theircommunity? She will also share statistics on which sectors are benefitingmost from volunteers.

RebeccaNesbit
Rebecca Nesbit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of PublicAdministration and Policy at the University of Georgia. She received her Ph.D.in Public Affairs from Indiana University’s School of Public and EnvironmentalAffairs in 2008, specializing in nonprofit management, volunteerism andphilanthropy. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree fromBrigham Young University.
丽贝卡. 内斯比特女士是美国佐治亚大学公共管理和政策学系的助理教授。她于2008年从美国印第安纳大学公共和环境事务学院获得公共事务博士学位, 专门从事非营利组织管理、志愿服务和慈善事业的研究。她还拥有美国杨百翰大学公共管理硕士学位。
