The core duties and key selection criteria for the two positions are attached.

Position 1:

Communications Officer -Wine Australia, Shanghai

Communications and PR is a crucial element of market development, helping us to amplify the program of activities we undertake in the Chinese market and maintaining productive relationships with all of Wine Australia’s stakeholders across the media, industry and trade. Given the importance of this function, we propose a transition of the communications and PR duties to a newly created in-house role similar to the position that exists in the UK & Europe satellite office.

The successful applicant needs to be highly motivated, flexible and prepared to work in a performance driven culture. They must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving measurable results in the communications and PR space.


ROLE

Based in Shanghai, this role will work to develop and implement communications and PR initiatives of Wine Australia in Chinese market.

This role will work closely with the global communications team and will require strong relationships with the Australian wine industry as well as the Chinese wine and lifestyle media with the objective of communicating Wine Australia’s key messages to the market.


DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Develop a proactive communications strategy and reactive media office function in line with the global communications strategy to maintain and increase engagement with key opinion leaders such as wine educators, journalists,sommeliers, importers and distributors and to generate positive media coverage and conversation of Australian wine.

2.Develop and implement public relations campaigns that leverage and amplify Wine Australia’s market development initiatives and events generating positive local media coverage and conversation of the Australian wine industry.

3.Work with and manage a third party agency responsible for community management of Wine Australia’s social media platforms – Wechat and Weibo and the bi-monthly e-newsletter (in both Chinese and English)

4.Development and review of media materials including media releases, factsheets, website content and other copywriting requirements

5.Oversight of the Wine Australia China website with responsibility for uploading content and news

6.Developing and managing long-term, effective relationships with local media and influencers across the wine, hospitality, business and lifestyle sectors to influence positive media coverage and conversation of the Australian wine industry.

7.Event management including media hosting; event promotion; event publicity and logistical support where required.

8.Daily media monitoring and regular measurement and evaluation of results and campaigns

9.Support Wine Australia’s position as the leading authority on Australian wine in China by communicating wine sector intelligence and news from Australia to the Chinese market.

10.Support the Wine Australia China team as required and directed by the Regional Manager.


SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL

1.Recent commercially focused work experience in an international / multinational company or foreign governmental organization context in China for at least 3 years.

2.Previous experience in a communications, PR or media role for at least 2 years

3.Experience in media relations and a solid understanding of the Chinese media landscape across all platforms

4.A good understanding of and demonstrated use of social media

5.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with fluency in both English and Mandarin.

6.Capability to work under pressure on multiple projects and to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines

7.Highly motivated and driven to exceed expectations

8.Attention to detail and genuine desire to work to high standards

9.Advanced computer skills

10.Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline

11.Dedicated team player with the ability to contribute and support team projects and initiatives.


SELECTION CRITERIA – DESIRABLE

1.Media experience in the wine industry and a good understanding of the Chineseor Australian wine market

2.Wine education or qualifications



Position 2:

Project Officer, Wine Australia, Shanghai

Wine Australia China has a vacancy of Project Officer in Shanghai, responsible for organising and implementing marketing activities for Australian wine in China.


The successful applicant needs to behighly motivated, flexible and prepared to work in a performance driven culture. They must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving measurable results in the communications and PR space.


ROLE

Based in Shanghai, this role will work to organise and implement the user pay and core activities of Wine Australia in Chinese market.This role will work closely with China Manager and will require strong organisation and project management skills to deliver the China programs for Wine Australia.


DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Successfully implement marketing activities identified in the annual prospectus including coordination of key trade events and promotions, consistent with the Wine Australia strategy.

2.Successfully promote the awareness, trial and understanding of Australian wine in the People’s Republic of China.

3.Effectively implement key activities identified in the Wine Australia China’s core activities like A+ Specialist Program as directed by the China Manager

4.Work closely with the China Manager and the other team members to ensure effective communication, promotion and education of Wine Australia in all trade, consumer and media related initiatives.

5.Identify and develop proposals for new opportunities that effectively market and promote Australian wines in the China market in line with agreed strategies.

6.Contribute to the development of the annual promotional program and the longterm strategic plan for China.

7.Identify and build key relationships including media and trade.

8.Undertake all other duties to assist in the positive awareness and image development of Australian wine.

9.Manage budgets on a project by project basis.

10.Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports/submissions and project materials asrequired by Wine Australia.

Performance evaluation of this position is measured by Wine Australia’s key performance indicators and criteria.
