CIEO加拿大游学夏令营:不一样的游学经历

暑假除了旅行外,对孩子而言,还有一项重要的活动就是—参加夏令营。夏令营可以让孩子进入新的环境,认识新的朋友,在老师的带领下,学习新知识和技能,不仅能丰富生活经验,学会团队合作,还能锻炼自己的独立能力以及坚韧精神。

开启游学成长体验:游学足迹


7月15日太平洋时间11:00,同学们在老师的带领下顺利抵达温哥华国际机场,在前往温哥华岛的轮渡上,导游热情地给孩子们介绍了温哥华独特的文化及绚烂的自然风景,领略加拿大特有的风土人情,成功吸引了孩子们的注意力。



而在去温哥华历史悠久的老牌餐厅White Spot吃午餐前,孩子们在轮渡上就认真学习并掌握了如何运用英文点餐。在与自己的寄宿家庭爸妈会合见面时,每位同学尽管经历了长途飞行的疲倦,但仍落落大方的介绍自己并和 Home 爸 Home 妈热情打招呼!



我们来自东方,我们来自中国!在大洋彼岸的另一个国度,在这个大自然恩赐的福地,文化在传播,情感在交融。孩子们互帮互助,协助搬运行李,每个孩子都能用顺畅的英文点餐。虽是第一天出发,但大家会相互照顾,提醒拿好手机行李。



在体验中学陪伴一生的知识:拓宽眼界


7月16日,进入学习第一天,孩子们被分成两个小组进入不同课室进行项目式课程的学习,包括原汁原味的ESL课程;设计搭建桥梁;小游戏设计,编程学习等,孩子们感觉非常的有趣,主动去尝试老师布置的各种作业和要求。课程结束后,我们的小小同学们还主动帮老师打扫教室,并积极与其他国家的小朋友交流合作,遇到问题和困难也会及时求助老师。



CIEO带队老师由衷的说道:“有趣的灵魂终将相遇,世界那么大,我们的孩子正在挑战没有做过的事情,走别人不敢走的路。既要扎根母土,又要浪迹天涯,通过环游世界,探索人性的本质,了解自己的天命,去做一些有意义的事,去开拓和创造一个美妙、自由、大胆的灵魂。”



卢安克说:你们想成为的人啊,想做的事儿,我不知道,也无法给你们定下来一个目标路,我能做的,就是和你们一起走在寻找的路上。《在路上》说:我不假思索地上路,因为出发的感觉太好了,世界突然充满了可能性,漫游和行走,拓宽眼界抵达未知。



CIEO一直追随着孩子成长的脚步,去培养一个个有眼界、有毅力、有目标的孩子。因为读过的书,走过的路,看过的世界景象,都会融入孩子的血液和灵魂,变成孩子非凡的创造力,变成与众不同的思想……孩子的未来,你我都无法想像。



On July 15, 2018,the first day of the 2018 Vancouver Island Cultural and Explore Summer Camp of Canada, students and teachers arrived at Vancouver International Airport at 11:00am Pacific time.As the students disembarked the plane into the airport,they realized that there were many students, from Asia and all around the world, arriving for summer camps in Canada. The two chaperones guided the students through Canadian customs and they collected their luggage.



The travel agency took the students across Vancouver by bus. They were informed about the history and beautiful scenery of Vancouver as they traversed the city.


They boarded the ferry at Horseshoe Bay which is a very lovely little harbour town on the northern shore of Vancouver. The ferry at Horseshoe Bay services Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast which is a series of small islands and coastal communities that can only be accessed by boat because of the steep mountains behind them.


    

The homestay families were eagerly awaiting the students at their school. Joshua gave the students a speech about being polite and respectful with the homestay families.The students got off the bus and were given their name tags and introduced to their homestay families. They were very polite and introduced themselves in English to their host families. Some of the host families had already brought their kids and grandkids to meet their new friends. 



After Every students arrived at school for a welcome assembly. Some of the students had pancakes for breakfast and others had cereal. Liz, the principal of the school, introduced some of the rules and regulations for their time at her school.



The children were then divided into two groups and they went to class. The students had an ESL class and a STEM class were they learned about engineering. The subject was building bridges, and they had to design bridges and determine if they would hold a certain weight.

 


After the school day was finished, the students rode school buses that were color coordinated to avoid any confusion. The homestay families had organized many different activities for their guests.
