十分、满分完美；It means a female is very good-looking, measured on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the most good-looking and one being the least.（10分形容女的非常漂亮，反之一分是最不漂亮的）

to 是针对的意思，翻译过来就是 10比1的压倒性优势；十有八九、很有可能”

口语中常把 minute 省略掉：休息十分钟，即"小憩一会"

美国俚语；精力充沛、有闯劲的个人奋斗者；同时也可以形容一个人圆滑、油嘴滑舌

on cloud nine

直译是“在第九层云上”，可谓飘飘然直上九重天；据说，cloud nine 是美国气象服务中的一个术语。在气象服务中，各种不同的云系都有各自的数字代号，如，1号云系、2号云系。那么9号云系是哪种云呢？9号云系是一种叫做"积雨云"的特定代号。而"积雨云"的位置最高，因此，cloud nine就成了"处在世界顶峰"的形象代名词，用来形容一种"情绪高涨"的状态，和现在十分流行的"High"差不多。

I was on cloud nine for days after hearing the good news.
听到这个好消息后，我兴奋了好几天。

dressed to the nines

英国习惯用语；9是个数中最高的一位，从这个角度来看，dressed to the nines是穿着达到了最高级的程度：盛装出席

Nancy really thought that she'd be the center of attention at the dance because she was dressed to the nines.
