#Traveling Around the U.S. – Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.

When Pioneers started moving west more than 200 years ago, they’d see an endless landscape of rolling hills and tall grass. Of the 170 million acres of prairies that once covered North America, most of it has been turned into farmland.

However, much still remains in the Kansas Flint Hills at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve were the environment is not only surviving, but thriving.

At the preserve, visitors can see a vast landscape of green hills. They may also run into the Preserve’s full time residents, the Tallgrass Prairie Bison Herd.

Starting in 1993, the herd has expanded to more than 2000 wild bison. The Preserve is a great success in the National Park Services mission to conserve and cultivate the natural environment.

So how’d you like to see a well preserved piece of American history?
