英国内政部于2017年12月18日宣布将第四层级学生签证的试行项目扩展至包括英国华威大学在内的23所大学。此试行适用于2018/2019学年入学的学生。
该试行项目面向即将在英国攻读学习期限不超过13个月硕士学位课程（不含学前语言课程）的国际学生，简化他们的签证申请流程。由于参与试行的大学需负责资格审查，就读这些大学的学生在申请签证时可递交更少的材料。当然，所有学生都仍必须满足英国移民法例要求。该项目还允许学生毕业后在英国停留不超过6个月的时间。为那些打算在毕业后转为工作签证并获得毕业生水平工作的学生提供便利。此举表明了英国内政部对英国大学招收国际学生的支持。

Eligibility for the Tier 4 Pilot
(Masters Students only)
If you are applying to study a Masters course for 13 months or less (excluding the duration of any pre-sessional course) at the University of Wawrick, you are eligible to participate in the Tier 4 pilot.
Participating in the pilot
allows you to:
Stay longer after the end of the course - the total length of stay you are allowed is the full length of the course plus six months after the end of the course (as stated on your CAS). This will be helpful if you wish to stay on in the UK to look for work after you have completed your studies or to attend a graduation ceremony at a later date.
Be considered as ‘low-risk’ for immigration purposes and therefore,although you are required to meet the Tier 4 Immigration Rules.
Submit fewer evidential documents with your application – you will not be required to submit certificates or documents showing your previous qualifications or transcript of results and documents showing you meet the maintenance requirements.
