Family Fun Night

The Canada International School of Hefei hosted over 400 students and their families for their annual Family Fun Night! Students from K-1 through 12th grade arrived excited to participate in the variety of amazing activities the night had to offer. Before the six o'clock start time, the lobby was already crowded with impatient children asking their parents "is it time yet?"

Family Fun Night offered many different types of activities intended to appeal to all ages and interests, even the parents. Activities ranged from swimming to art appreciation and many other choices. Film and television appreciation, music, and robotics to name a few. The most difficult part was deciding which activity to start with first. The two-hour event provided enough time for students to participate in a few of their selected favorites.

The Science department had their audience on the edge of their seats with a burning magnesium experiment which produced brilliant lights and surprised reactions. On the other side of the campus, Former Canadian Kickboxing Champion, Scott Butler, demonstrated some swift kickboxing moves to his group, while other students wanted to gaze at the moon and stars through the high-powered telescopes; Many choices to appeal to many interests.

The Canadian International School of Hefei (CISH) designed Family Fun Night with "family fun" in mind, but the night was also designed to introduced their students to activities they may decide to develop into hobbies they may enjoy for a lifetime. CISH International Baccalaureate Program is founded on the IB Program philosophy of developing the “whole” student. Research has shown the most successful individuals are those who lead balanced lives. Compared with more traditional education, the IB Programs’ focus is on developing well-rounded and balanced learners which transcend into happier and healthier people.

合肥加拿大国际学校举行家庭活动日 吸引学校400个外籍家庭共同参与

近日，合肥加拿大国际学校精心策划的家庭活动日拉开帷幕，来自学校12个年级400多名学生和家长参加了本次活动。活动于下午6点正式开始，在活动快要开始之前孩子们已经迫不及待，与此同时家长们已经如约地走进校园，和孩子们一起感受今天的“奇妙”之旅。据了解，此次家庭活动日是对全校学生和家长开放的，活动内容也是丰富多彩，针对不同年级和不同兴趣爱好的学生分别准备了十多种丰富多彩的社团活动，游泳社团、影视鉴赏、音乐社团、艺术社团、科学社团等等，让每名学生都可以选到自己心仪的社团。“我们每天下午都有一节社团课，学生们可以根据自己的兴趣爱好选择相应的社团，社团也会经常开展一些有意思的活动。”

与传统教育相比，国际学校更注重对学生思考能力和实践能力的培养。对此合肥加拿大国际学校也会定期给学生们准备各种各样丰富多彩的主题活动。据介绍，10月中旬，合肥加拿大国际学校还将举办一个秋季枫叶龙图书展活动，邀请学生、家长和老师们共同参加。
